Background
Parking fees are not the most fun thing in life, and a poorly functioning parking meter therefore becomes a major annoyance. The customer, a leading manufacturer of parking meters, realized that the protection of the electronics in the machines had to be given the highest priority in order to guarantee high reliability in harsh outdoor climates, year after year.
Silicone assignment
To withstand a tough outdoor environment with constant temperature variations, from -40°C to +80°C with a high risk of condensation and vibrations from heavy traffic. Simple production and good opportunity for follow-up checks.
Tribotec's solution
TSE3991CU – solvent-free circuit board varnish, is sprayed over the boards and cures with the help of atmospheric humidity. Provides a flexible layer that protects all components permanently. The varnish is applied in relatively thick layers, which provides very good climate protection, but is faster to produce and weighs less than a total casting. The paint contains a UV indicator for quick control of paint results, and is transparent even in thicker layers, which allows the components to be inspected even after painting.
