Glue fat plastic
Gluing fat plastics is not the easiest. In recent years, however, Loxeal has developed certain specially adapted types of acrylic glue and epoxy glue that can also glue greasy plastics. What is colloquially called "fat plastic" refers in this case to plastics such as PP, PP/PE, PE, PA, ABS, and PET.
Why is it more difficult to glue fat plastics?
It is more difficult to get a good adhesion when gluing so-called fat plastics, and this is because these plastics have a relatively low surface tension. The solution is often to use a type of glue with a higher surface tension than the greasy plastic material.
We at Tribotec offer several products intended for gluing greasy plastics:
- Loxeal 48-21 Epoxy glue 2-component hybrid – for flexible sealing and bonding applications.
- Loxeal 34-60 acrylic glue 2-component – specially developed to be able to bind difficult plastic materials, rubber and metals.
- Loxeal 34 quick glue for hard-to-glue plastic/rubber – specially developed glue with low viscosity.
