What glue should I use for greasy plastics?

Answer:

It is very important to use the right type of adhesive when bonding fatty plastics, which are often considered relatively difficult to bond. "Fatty plastics" include, for example, PP/PE, PP, PA, PE, ABS, and PET.

Why is it more difficult to glue fat plastics?

The reason why a specialised adhesive is required for bonding oily plastics is that they have a relatively low surface tension. The surface you are bonding needs to have a higher surface tension than the adhesive has. If you use the wrong type of adhesive, it is difficult to achieve good adhesion. At Tribotec we offer acrylic adhesives with a lower surface tension than the surface of the fatty plastic - and which therefore perform well on both hard-to-glue and fatty plastics, as well as rubber and metal, for example. Find out more about our range of adhesives designed for bonding oily plastics! Please contact us at Tribotec for more information!
