Rust protection in hydrostatic testing
Hydrostatic testing is a critical method to ensure the tightness and strength of pressure vessels, tanks and piping systems by pressurising them with liquid. As the systems are filled with water, there is an immediate risk of corrosion on the inside. Using a VCI inhibitor, such as Cortec 649 BD, in the pressurised water protects not only the submerged surfaces, but also the air gaps and cavities where the liquid cannot reach, thanks to the inhibitors' ability to act in the vapour phase.
Why we recommend the Cortec 649 BD:
- Full VCI protection: Inhibitors protect metal surfaces both below and above the waterline, which is ideal when the system cannot be dried immediately after testing.
- Prevents breakdowns: Contains effective anti-calcification agents that prevent deposits and clogging in valves and sensitive components.
- Hygienic safety: Prevents microbial growth in freshwater and glycol mixtures, ensuring that the system remains clean even with prolonged exposure.
