Glue greasy plastic

Gluing oily plastics is not the easiest thing to do. In recent years, however, Loxeal has developed some specialised types of acrylic adhesives and epoxy adhesives that are capable of bonding even oily plastics. What is commonly referred to as "oily plastics" in this case refers to plastics such as PP, PP/PE, PE, PA, ABS, and PET.
Why is it more difficult to glue fat plastics?
It is more difficult to achieve good adhesion when bonding so-called 'fat' plastics, and this is because these plastics have a relatively low surface tension. The solution is often to use a type of adhesive with a higher surface tension than the fatty plastic material.
At Tribotec we offer several products designed to bond oily plastics:
- Loxeal 48-21 Epoxy adhesive 2-component hybrid – for flexible sealing and bonding applications.
- Loxeal 34-60 acrylic adhesive 2-component – specially developed to bond difficult plastics, rubber and metals.
- Loxeal 34 instant adhesive for difficult-to-adhere plastics/rubber - specially developed low viscosity adhesive.
