Liquid corrosion protection

Liquid corrosion protection consists of a VCI (VpCI) product in liquid form that is rolled, dipped, sprayed or brushed onto the item to be protected. The liquid starts an active process that provides effective corrosion protection on virtually anything made of metal. This type of corrosion protection is popular for use in the automotive and engineering industries, for example, where a lot of metal is used.
Liquid corrosion protection is better for rough and shaky transport
If you use dry corrosion protection and plasticise large components, it is important that the protective packaging is tight. If there are any sharp edges on the component, they risk puncturing the plastic or packaging. Shaky and difficult transport can also damage the item. In these cases, liquid rustproofing is an excellent choice, as the surface becomes less sensitive to impact.
Another advantage is that liquid rust inhibitor makes the process smoother if only certain small parts of an object need to be protected against rust. You don't need to wrap the whole vehicle or engine in VCI plastic, and can instead brush the product onto the small areas.
What is important to consider when using it?
Some liquid rust inhibitors dry and form a wax-like film, while others should not dry at all. When applying by spray, it is important to have the right thickness - otherwise the protection will not dry if the layer is too thick. This is especially true for water-based rust inhibitors, as the water needs to evaporate to avoid corrosion on the metal.
For liquid rust inhibitors to work optimally, the metal surface needs to be dry and clean. Tribotec offers cleaners for this purpose. Remember to use cleaning agents with VCI substances, as these are compatible with the VCI packaging. This way you will achieve the best possible results.

Tribotec is your expert in liquid corrosion protection
At Tribotec, we have a wide range of liquid corrosion protection solutions for your business. Whether you need long-term protection in storage or temporary protection in the factory, you'll find what you need:
- Cortec 649 VCI anti-corrosion additive for cooling systems provides long-term protection against corrosion in closed systems with fresh water, steam or glycol.
- Cortec 389 Biocorr VCI rust inhibitor, water-based biodegradable corrosion protection for metal components during storage and transport.
- Cortec Biocorr VCI rust inhibitor, water-based environmentally friendly multi-metal protection that leaves an invisible, dry protective film.
Water-based rust inhibitors are kindest to the environment
Today's products are generally kinder to the environment than older ones, where the water-based ones are usually not classified as environmentally hazardous. Tribotec's liquid rust protection products comply with current environmental regulations. We are careful not to offer products that are carcinogenic, for example. For more information on environmental classification, read the product's safety data sheet.
What is the difference between dry and liquid rust inhibitors?
Both are based on the same VCI technology, but in the case of dry rust inhibitors, the rust inhibitors have a carrier in the form of paper or plastic. Whereas a liquid rust inhibitor can be based on oil, solvent or water.
